"Making movies is what Tiggers do da best" - a review by pearly

The stories written by A.A. Milne about Christopher Robin and his stuffed toys are legendary. True, the characters are all fairly stereotyped (the sad one, the fastidious one, the scared one, and so on), even more so since Disney got their hands on them, but this does not make them any less lovable.

The Tigger Movie focuses around one of these stuffed animals, namely (and not surprisingly) Tigger (voiced by Jim Cummings, who also voices Winnie the Pooh). One of Tigger's usual catchphrases if that "the most wonderful thing about Tiggers is I'm the only one", but in The Tigger Movie, Tigger isn't feeling so special - in fact, he's trying to find his family tree so that he can have a party with the rest of his tigger family.

The only problem is that Tigger really is the only tigger, so he's having a fair bit of difficulty finding his non-existant relatives. It's up to the rest of the Hundred Acre Wood gang to make Tigger feel special again, and they do it the only way they know how: with plenty of honey breaks along the way.

The Tigger Movie is a cute modern-day fairytale, with plenty of learning along the way for the kiddies. Unfortunately, the newer songs created for the film are not as impressive as the older, well-loved ones (like Tigger's Song), so I hope the franchise isn't running out of steam.

So, in summary, lots of fun (I'd sure like to be able to pull off one of those Whoop-de-Dooper Loop-de-Looper Alley-Ooper Bounces), but not quite as special as some of the earlier Winnie the Pooh stories that I can remember.

Now I just have to hope that Lara buys a copy of my favourite Milne character's movie, Piglet's Big Movie (2003), so that I can watch that for free too! Hint, hint.

pearly gives this movie 6 out of 10.
