"A great concept leads to a great film" - a review by pearly

Hello is a very unique film. It is the story of a shy and lonely cassette recorder who has the hots for the CD player that lives down the hall. Each time the CD player goes past his door, the cassette player tries to say hello, but each time he manages to screw it up by pressing the wrong button, having the tape in the wrong spot, or some other mishap.

Jonathan Nix's concept of having music players speaking to each other via their media is great, and his cute hand-drawn animation goes well with the soundtrack. The animation style (forgive me, I don't know technical terms) involves the outlines of the drawings constantly moving, so that it looks like the whole screen is dancing about as you watch it (it's a style I've seen before, but I can't think where).

Hello comes across as being a one man show, with the writing, direction, and animation being done by Nix. There are definitely worse ways to spend six and a half minutes.

pearly gives this movie 7 out of 10.
