"Good Lord, I think I'm blind" - a review by mino

You know sometimes you see a movie that's so terribly bad that it's actually good? Like Plan 9 from Outer Space (1958), or Houseboat Horror (1989), a movie that is so laughably terrible that it's actually fun to watch, and you enjoy it because of, rather than despite, its many flaws?

This is not one of those movies.

Strike of the Panther is just plain bloody awful.

I'll freely admit that I didn't watch the whole of Strike of the Panther (also known as Fists Of Blood, for some reason). I watched a bit of it, so maybe my review isn't a fair one. Who knows: maybe it got really really good in the last 20 minutes. Somehow, I doubt it. Like the famous curate's egg, you don't need to see the whole thing to know it's rotten. And baby, this one's a stinker.

I don't know what to say. If the idea of an Australian Kung-Fu Mobster Movie guest-starring Rowena Wallace (of "Pat The Rat" fame) is your idea of a good time then, hey, don't let me stop you from seeing it. Knock yourself out. However, if the idea of an Australian Kung-Fu Mobster Movie guest-starring Rowena Wallace (of "Pat The Rat" fame) isn't your idea of a good time (that is to say, you have more brain cells than you do fingers), then stay well away. You're risking permanent brain injury just by glancing at the screen.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention: it's a sequel. So hey, maybe you should get this and Day of the Panther (1988) from the video shop and have an "of-the-Panther-hoedown".

Or maybe you shouldn't.

mino gives this movie 1 out of 10.

  1. Why do you all have to go over the top on how poor a movie is? ok its not excatly the the best martial arts film ever but the fighting itself is pretty good. Everyone always slates cheap movies, if your not a martial arts fan then you should not have rented it in the first place.
