"A fascinating angle" - a review by pearlyPunk: Attitude is an interesting take on a well worn path. The music documentary is hardly a new thing, but what director Don Letts does to change things up is to examine the idea of punk as a way of living, rather than a genre of music. It's an idea that I like the sounds of.
To Letts, and this is verified by the music industry legends that he interviews throughout the course of the film, punk isn't about a certain sound, or the way that someone dresses. It's about the way that people think, and the attitude that they have towards what they're doing. Chubby Checker is punk, because he was doing his own thing and was out there, at a time when others were toeing the line. This is Letts' angle.
The end result is a really unique take on this style of film - an almost punk documentary about punk rock. |
