"If not for the conclusion..." - a review by pearly

Gopher Broke really reminded me of Boundin' (2003), but without the singing, and not nearly as cutsie-wutsie. It's about a gopher who finds himself on a country road bustling with utes on their way to a farmer's market. He hatches a brilliant plan to get himself plenty of free food by digging up a hole in the road that will hopefully mean that tasty treats fly from the uncovered tubs as the utes bump past.

This film is a pretty slick 3D animation, and I was impressed by it. The story took the usual route of having no humans (harder to animate, I guess), and instead using animals as its characters. Story-wise, it's also fairly standard, using multiple similar set-ups with one pay-off at the end. Unfortunately, I thought the pay-off was pretty stupid and disappointing, which took away from my overall enjoyment of the film, but I'll give it points for the first three minutes, anyway.

pearly gives this movie 6 out of 10.

  2. I would like to see this movie again...the only time I saw it was on Sunday's CBS morning News program. How can I view it again with my son?
