"Magnífico!" - a review by pearly

When a woman (Marta Belenguer) enters a cafe for her morning coffee, she can't understand why this morning seems so different, yet so similar to any other morning. But a man in the cafe (Nacho Vigalondo) is about to make it perfectly clear.

In this all-singing, all-dancing short film written and directed by the man who plays the man in the cafe, you can expect the unexpected. It's straight into the action, and I found it all a little disorienting for the first minute or so, but having gotten my bearings, I went along for the ride and was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. 7:35 in the Morning is quite unique. It reminded me a little, in style, of The Host (2001), but it's totally different at the same time.

7:35 in the Morning may be an even better experience if you speak Spanish, as its fast pace left me a little bewildered after just one viewing, and being able to just listen instead of having to read subtitles may have helped with this, but regardless, the film is quite a corker, and has even been nominated for an Oscar in the short film category. Definitely worth a watch, and most probably, two watches.

pearly gives this movie 8 out of 10.
