"Angry, angry young man" - a review by pearly

Doug the Dino is a short claymation movie created by Strong Mad, who is, let's face it, a fictional character. It's about an orange dinosaur, presumably named Doug (or maybe Douglas - Doug may be a nickname), who wreaks havoc on a green tube of playdough, which I am assuming is meant to represent a pole of some kind.

It's quite a macabre little piece, with a scene towards the end that's reminiscent of Trainspotting (1996). Even Strong Mad's own brother, Strong Bad, thinks that Doug the Dino suffers from "misguided direction, no comedic timing, and the script is riddled with gaping plot holes". I wouldn't go quite that far, in fact, for a first effort, I think it's pretty cool. The special effects involving the blood have to be seen to be believed.

pearly gives this movie 7 out of 10.

  1. I have yet to see another film approach this in simplicity and ingenuity. I simply must watch it several times a day. Gaping plot holes, indeed!

  2. This is such a metaphorical piece; really summing up jurrasic park 1 in a nutsheell. The toilet who sucks up doug may represent the toilets inner anguish at not sucking up the T-rex who ate the financial guy of the toilet in Jurrasic Park 1
